Take Charge of Your Life – This is Your Life
“This is your life, are you who you want to be?” ~ Switchfoot
Once you think about this seemingly simple quote, you mind may fill with doubt and guilt. Don’t worry, this is not about where we are but where we are going.
This is Your Life
Take Charge of Your Life
To take charge of your life, you first have to cut through all the hurts, all the excuses, all the laziness, all the selfish impulses and all the BS in your life to understand one simple fact: this is your life.
At some point, you have to unchain the past and take ownership the fact that this is your life. This is not your parent’s life. This is your life. This is not your spouse’s life; this is your life. This is not your friend’s life, your bosses life, your favorite sports star’s life, and definitely not your rockstar’s life. This is your life. You choose, you make the decisions. Own it, embrace it and move forward. Welcome to the real world. You are not int OZ, and you are not a baby anymore because only one person has responsibility for your actions and words, and that is you.

Ok, Now What? – Take Charge of Your Life Part 2 h2
Got it. Understood, this is my life, now what?
Are you who you want to be?
But before we get into that question, let me ask another question. Is the world here for you are you are here for the world? Is life about things or people and values? Toys and cars change but it’s our values will be how people remember us.
The values we want can change with serious commitment to something, cause or someone. They can be changed by an event, or death of a loved one. They can change from the point of inspiration, spiritual development, a personal quiet time or simply getting tired a repeating pattern in your life.
Example – What makes a good Marine?
A good marine is a marine who leads by living honor, courage, and commitment. A good Marine lives exemplifying three very important values.
Take Charge of Your Life Part 3 – Decide your Values
Start now. Decide what will define your life. If you want to be honest, then don’t lie. If you want truth in your life, then seek it. If you want to be positive and encouraging, then do that. When you ‘do’ you are [become] that action.
But figure it out and start now regardless of your age. The longer you wait, the more you will regret and beat up yourself as you age.
Take Charge of Your Life – An example
More than anything, I believe every person on this earth is special, loved and [should be] respected. Therefore I want everyone to be healthy so that they can become more. Hence this website, BeHealthyBeMore.com. More so now than in other times of history are more people losing opportunity and access to a happier life. The playing field is not level but is slanted for the advantage of a few.
I remember a cartoon of a bunch of ants walking in a line. A person had broken the shell of one ant. As the person stepped out of the shell, he said, “Thank You.”
I have lived much of my life in fear. Fear makes me easily manipulated as people play into that fear. I think the world sees a lot of individuals taking advantage of fear they espouse for control and manipulation. I want to live a fearless life so that I control my life and not dance on puppet strings pulled by someone else.
I want to know the truth. I hate smoke and mirrors, pandering, and flattering empty, meaningless words. Therefore I test what people, companies, and organizations say. Advertising for predictive actions is my enemy.
Am I Who I Want to Be?
Grin, ask those who know me. But I can say this; I am more of who I want to be than I was last month or last year.
Because I know the values that are dear to me and in that process, I know who I want to be. I know I want to take charge of my life because it is _my_ life.
