Where is Happiness? Where Do We Find it?
Where is happiness? At the top of the what-we-want-most list is happiness. Many will spend a lifetime looking for happiness. So, where is happiness? Can it be found? We have heard the saying, “Happiness is the key to life.”
Perhaps this saying it had it right, “When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy.’ They told me I didn’t understand te assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” source
So is happiness something we need to strive for or do just find moments of being happy? For example, hitting a massive jackpot will make us happy, but is that what we mean by finding happiness. We are happy on our wedding day but does the marriage bring happiness throughout our lives? Or are we doomed to living troubled lives with brief periods of the upper called happiness?
Can you have happiness in times of sadness and hardships? One last question to let you ponder: Is happiness found, created, or worked?
Fine, But, Where is Happiness?
Obviously, opinions will change the more any group of people discusses the topic. The answers are not scientific, not measurable, and will change according to our individual experiences.
We believe a state of happiness is not in any one moment. In one moment we can be happy, ecstatic and excited or we can be sad, deflated and angry. Both sides of those emotions are caused by external circumstances, those moments in life. Those moments could not be tallied up to mean happiness if there were more positive events than sad events over a period.
So we believe happiness is not found. It is not caused by summing up external events or conditions for a joy number. So if you think happiness is a lot of new cars or lots a diamonds, it’s not. Want proof? Look at lives of those who have more than you. They can be just and unhappy as anyone despite possessions.
Lets Stop Dancing Around
Where is happiness? Happiness is found or made inside of you, or it is not. It is something you know you have or don’t have over a period. You find happiness in the way you perceive and react to those moments in life, either good or bad. Happiness takes longer to achieve
We believe you need to have the courage to have happiness. We think you experience happiness when you help others out of their ‘unhappiness.’ Happiness can come from making other people happy. Happiness comes from the heart, from love and not fear or hatred. When we see the love, we have one reaction. When we see hate, we have a different response.
To put this in a real physical world, to have happiness you will need peace, effort, courage, desire and determination. It seems to be easier to be unhappy; not better, but just easier. It will take long-term thinking and may not happen in a week.
Remember, we seem to all want happiness. We are suggesting it is something you can have if you look at you and become a one person solution.
